Accent Wall

From experience, a nice accent wall will always be an eye catcher, especially if it’s a color or pattern that goes well with your furniture. An accent wall is typically one wall of a different color or material than the other walls. It gets rid of the typical standard white wall and brings life to your living room even before putting up wall art.

If your apartment complex does not allow you to paint a beautiful accent wall or if you simply do not want to paint one, framed wall art will be the best option. There are different styles of art to fit your interior design type. For an example, the above painting would fit perfectly in a Victorian or vintage styled home!

Decorative Couch Pillows

Adding decorative pillows to your couch can either make your home look expensive or tacky. To achieve the look of luxury, try adding decorative pillows that match the color scheme and style of your living room. Having too many pillows that are different sizes or different colors (depending on what style you’re going for) or too many pillows in general may not be ideal for an expensive look.

Plants

There are certain types of plants that can make your home both expensive yet unique and that is, artificial or real trees and large plants! I, myself, have an artificial tree in my home and this is the first thing my guests notice in my living room. Large plants bring a natural elegance to your home and adding LED string lights to the tree for the evening amplifies this look!

Accent Furniture

If you’re looking for ways to have your living room stand out, accent furniture such as an accent chair or love seat is a great option. When you look at luxury interior designs, most of the time the furniture isn’t bought as a set. You may see a different texture, shape or colored chair which keeps the living room from looking bland. If you’re planning to buy new living room furniture and have your eyes on a matching furniture set, add a unique recliner or loveseat instead!

Rugs

Whether you have hardwood floors or carpet, putting down the right rug will upgrade your living room from regular to luxurious. Having a rug that is too small for the area makes it look like the rug was just thrown there at random, as if it shouldn’t be there. When adding a large rug, the most common placement is adding just the two front couch or chair legs on the edge of the rug making the area look cleaner and organized.

Vases

Stylish vases, big or small, would be a great touch to your living room if you are adding plants or any décor (pampas or faux branches). Huge vases (used for faux or real trees and large plants) that coordinate with your living room style or small vases that go on your end tables or coffee table always adds class to the living room. Choosing a stylish vase is like choosing an art piece for your living room.

You can add your end table as accent furniture which gives a uniqueness to the living room. Start thinking of your furniture as works of art and you will see the difference in the style!

This makes all difference when incorporating elegant candle holders in place of the standard glass that comes with the candle. Try replacing regular candles with a decorative candle holder instead and immediately have your living room looking luxurious.

I can’t speak for everyone but, when fur is added to a room, it easily makes the room look…..rich! Placing faux fur as a rug or adding a faux fur throw on your couch will provide the expensive style you are looking to achieve.
Curtains

Adding curtains automatically bring your windows to life, but there is a correct way to do this. Make sure to get the right sized curtains, as the wrong size will bring attention to the window area in a bad way. Curtains that are too big make the window area look sloppy and curtains that are too small will simply look tacky. Having your curtains start about three to four inches from the ceiling and the bottom of the curtains slightly touching the floor is the ideal size to go for.
