When it comes to painting home interiors (and updating my wardrobe haha!), my go-to will always be dark and moody. There are a number of reasons most people choose to go the darker route; it works great with most decor styles such as rustic, traditional, industrial, vintage, art deco, and more! While I love the dark moody aesthetic, I do not necessarily want my home to be dreary…and I’m sure you won’t want a dreary home either.
So with that said, lets decorate our dark colored interior with these genius ideas!

Metallics
Dark moody colors will go very well with metallic colors, and even better with painted dark walls with a matte finish! To include these colors, you can add a silver, gold or brass light fixture, metallic and glass coffee table (and any metallic coffee table décor) or a metallic colored bookshelf. This combination will not only bring elegance to the room, but the metallic contrast will also enhance the beauty of it.

Wood or Stone
If you already have wood floors, I’m sure you can see how great it looks with dark colors! You can also pair it with wooden furniture (wood dining table or coffee table), to automatically give your space a natural look. I’ve also found that natural stone decorative pieces match extremely well and will instantly make your living space look luxurious!

Accent Colors or Designs
To give your living space a twist, try using bright colors or any color lighter than your primary paint color to enhance the look of your interior. If you didn’t plan on buying brand-new furniture just for the sake of a changed wall color, simple decor accents would suffice; a great example of this would be an accent throw cover, table decor, pictures or any other decorative item!

Texture
Are you wondering what texture will go best with your moody room? Leather or velvet furniture may be a great idea, especially when using matte paint; the shine of the leather and velvet will accentuate the smoothness of the color, making this shade less dull.

Plants
Large artificial (or real) trees, greenery in a decorative vase on the coffee table or end table, or wall planters; these are all subtle yet bold ways to emphasize your moody home without going over the top. Add colorful flowers to really put a spin on your moody decor!
