It was September of ’22 when my family and I decided to connect via Zoom and start planning our beautiful grandmother’s 90th birthday party. We wanted her to have the night of her life, enjoying her friends, family, food, and of course ‘wow’ her with beautiful décor. But there was one thing that we all agreed on……..THE BUDGET! We knew we did not want to hire an expensive event décor company that probably would’ve charged us ‘an arm and a leg’ just to create a vision that we could easily bring to life. Soooooo…. I decided to put my creative art skills to the test, and out came 10 beautiful centerpieces that I created for my grandmother’s 90th birthday party!
In this blog, you will find all the products and steps you need to create this look. Find the list of products/links at the end of this post <3
Step 1:
Hot glue the Metal Floral Hoop to the wooden base that it came with, so you can easily glue on the other attachments. Grab a small number of dried pampas, and enough twine to fully wrap around the ends of the pampas bunch. Put this to the side for later. Note: I used hot glue on the ends of the pampas bunch then wrapped the twine to keep it together, and I also cut about 3 inches off the ends of the pampas since I felt the original height didn’t align well with the floral hoop, this is optional.
Step 2:
Cut/take apart the Artificial Eucalyptus Bush branches and hot glue directly onto the Metal Floral Hoop. Cover the Metal Floral Hoop with as much of the Eucalyptus Bush as you’d like but leave a small space wherever you’d like to glue the pampas bunch onto the floral hoop. I covered the bottom (base) and most of the top part of the hoop as you can see below:
Step 3:
Glue the pampas bunch in the small space you made on the floral hoop. Glue some of the eucalypti leaves over the ends of the pampas bunch/twine if you want to hide it. Cut off the stems of the flowers to have a flat base (this will make the gluing process easier when placing it on the hoop). Glue the flower pieces on the hoop any way you’d like.
You can modify the centerpiece by choosing a different color scheme, or add additional pieces to the centerpiece, such as gems or even more leaves. This piece took a little over 2 hours to do as I had 10 pieces to complete, but definitely a very simple and easy project. And I should add, I was left with a huge smile on my face after 5 people asked to take them home. Mission accomplished!
